This is an award winning Environmental program was developed for club members and the local community to increase the recovery rate of small batteries from the environment.
Everyone uses small batteries which eventually go flat but they often end up in the rubbish bins (and so in land fill where they remain for upto 700 years to then release their deadly toxins into the environment), because where do you store a couple of flat batteries before getting enough to make it worthwhile to recycle them properly.
This simple box helps Rotary Club members and community members store the flat batteries in one place before taking them to a battery recycling depot either at the local supermarket or local Council offices. Some far we have recycled more the 180 Kgs of small batteries.
This was awarded the “Outstanding Sustainable Waste Management Award” at the 2021 Northern Tasmanian Waste Management “Waste Not Awards”.
